CDC Updates Respiratory Virus Guidance for Health Care Personnel

 AL   SNF  | The CDC has updated its recommendations for managing health care personnel who are exposed to or infected with common respiratory viruses. The most significant change is a shorter minimum work-exclusion period for personnel with COVID-19, and not including testing as part of the return-to-work criteria. Read More

Revalidation Information

 AL   SNF  | The WA State Health Care Authority (HCA) and DSHS will be completing revalidations for certain health care providers by June 5, 2028. Providers enrolled with HCA and DSHS who are selected for these off-cycle revalidations will receive notices by email or mail with instructions to complete the process. Read More

CMS Removes COVID-19 HCP Vaccination Measure from SNF QRP

 SNF  | Skilled nursing facilities are no longer required to report calendar year 2026 Healthcare Personnel (HCP) COVID-19 Vaccination measure data for the FY 2028 payment determination. Only the HCP COVID-19 vaccination measure has been removed. Other required National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) reporting continues. Read More

Notice of Change to Safety Net Assessment (Effective Jan 1, 2025)

 SNF  | Effective January 1, 2025, the upper level of the SNA will increase from $29.00 to $32.00. The lower level of $1.00 will not change. The exemption categories, defining which facilities pay and whether they pay at the higher or lower level, will not change. Medicaid payment rates will be adjusted to reflect the higher SNA amount. Personal Protective Equipment, Hazard Assessment Standard, and the Hierarchy of Controls

Urgent Background Checks Update

 AL   ESF   SNF  | In March of 2020, Governor Inslee introduced an emergency proclamation that temporarily suspended the law that requires long-term care workers to complete fingerprint-based background checks. On October 27, 2022, the emergency proclamation was lifted, and BCCU is planning to reintroduce closing (expiring) background check inquiries beginning January 1st, 2024. Read More
