Organics Webinar Reminder – July 9

Reminder: WHCA, in collaboration with the state Department of Ecology, will be hosting a webinar on waste management requirements inside the new Organics Management Laws of 2025 (OMLs). Join us on July 9 at 2:00 PM to learn more: WHCA Webinar: Preparing Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities for the Organics Management Laws

These laws are part of the state’s Climate Commitment Act and may require your facility to begin services for the collection of organic waste (food, landscaping, and miscellaneous organic materials) through local jurisdictions. This requirement is geographically restricted to certain areas of our state capable of supporting waste collection. However, this area is reevaluated on an annual basis and set to expand, not contract, with time. See if your facility is required to implement collections here: Business Organic Management Area.

This free, 60-minute session will be an overview of how this requirement is being implemented statewide. Lead by Olvia Carros, Organics & Food Center Specialist, it will be your chance to learn how OMLs are impacting skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The team at Ecology are committed to ensuring that our sector is well prepared to implement OMLs and avoid penalties for noncompliance.
