Grassroots Update: AHCA Congressional Briefing 2026
The WHCA team was honored to join this year’s AHCA Congressional Briefing. Over two days, the team met with all 12 members of the Washington congressional delegation in our nation’s capital. With the help of our members, Amanda Mullins (Ensign), Logan Pratt (Caring Places Management), and Monica Chopra (Cascadia Senior Living), we laid out legislative priorities that protect timely access to Medicaid/Medicare and uplift our workforce through immigration reform and training programs.
We’d like to thank the WHCA members who joined us for making these visits powerful. Their voices, representing both skilled nursing and assisted living, brought experience to conversations which demand expertise. Their on-the-ground perspectives on issues impacting communities, residents, and staff was the meaningful context that members of Congress needed. Without it, it’s hard to understand the challenges and opportunities facing long-term care in Washington state.
WHCA was able to take a special meeting with Senator Maria Cantwell’s office (pictured). Her experience as a lawmaker positions her to uplift our sector on the Hill. We thank her for listening intently to policies we hope will shift burden from providers and the vulnerable populations they serve.
