Membership Basics

Washington Health Care Association (WHCA) is a nonprofit trade association serving long-term care facilities and supportive businesses that operate in Washington State.

We represent about 75% of all assisted living and skilled nursing providers in the state. There are more than 43,000 long-term care residents living in and receiving care in a WHCA member facility. These provider members receive regulatory support, access to high-quality education and career advancement opportunities, and powerful advocacy at the state and federal levels. Membership also comes with other benefits that make the day-to-day operations of provider facilities run a little smoother, such as group purchasing, facilitated meetings with state agency representatives, and networking opportunities with businesses that provide crucial services related to long-term care.

National Affiliate Benefits

Assisted living and skilled nursing facilities that join WHCA automatically become a member of our national affiliate, the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and/or National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). AHCA/NCAL’s important role on the national long term care scene has become even more critical with the recent onslaught of federal rules for skilled nursing facilities and the increasing focus on residential care and assisted living. The relationship between WHCA and AHCA/NCAL describes many of the accomplishments of both organizations, as both require each other to adequately address the many issues now facing long term care facilities.  Becoming an active member of the AHCA/NCAL can have many great benefits, not the least of which is participation in the political process at the national level.
