DSHS Repealing Redundant Resident Protection Program (RPP) Rules

DSHS is repealing the Resident Protection Program (RPP) rules in WAC 388-97-0660 through 388-97-0840 because they are no longer in use and have become redundant. Here is the DSHS Dear Provider Letter (DPL) detailing the change.
The change reflects the earlier transfer of responsibility for investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of nursing home residents from Residential Care Services (RCS) to Adult Protective Services (APS). APS now conducts these investigations under chapter 388-103 WAC, fully replacing the RPP structure previously outlined in nursing home rules.
Because APS procedures govern all such investigations, the RPP provisions in chapter 388-97 WAC are unnecessary and are being formally eliminated. If you have questions, please contact Elena Madrid at WHCA.
