2026 Annual WHCA Board Retreat
This week, long-term care leaders met in Seattle for WHCA’s Annual Board Retreat, an opportunity for connection, networking, and strategic planning focused on the future of skilled nursing and assisted living in Washington. It was also a time of reflection on the longevity of the Association’s mission in uniting providers under shared, achievable goals.
The 2026 Board Retreat brought a unique opportunity to discuss WHCA’s advocacy strategy and legislative goals heading into 2027. In a room of provider advocates, WHCA displayed a strategic framework to meet the political environment in Olympia head on, presenting new political action and advocacy methods alike. In all of this, the philosophy that things must change to meet a growing anti-business, pro-labor sentiment driving lawmaker decisions rang true. The Board had the chance to provide feedback and discuss how WHCA plans to stay proactive as the state shifts resource priorities and regulates with a heavy hand.
But it wasn’t all work and no play: WHCA staff had the chance to further connect with the Board at T-Mobile Park for an evening of Mariner’s baseball as the M’s took on the Cincinnati Reds (pictured). The Board also had the opportunity to welcome their newest member, Ole Lindbo, Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance at The Springs Living.
We are indebted to the expertise and guidance of our board members who bring experience to our regulatory, advocacy, education, and social offerings. Although the people change, the WHCA Board stays committed to uplifting all providers in their mission to deliver quality long-term care.
