WHCA Welcomes Members to Report on Their DSHS Survey/Inspection Experience
The Regulatory Team here at WHCA monitors citation trends and supports members in identifying correction methods. WHCA staff also identify areas where Residential Care Services (RCS) staff have misapplied regulations and work with RCS leadership to address concerns raised by our members on survey processes. Not just focusing on areas of improvement, we also want to hear what is going well with the survey and inspection processes in order to share positive experiences and what is going well with survey/inspection processes with RCS.
None of this work can be done without members willing to share their experiences. About two decades ago, RCS staff solicited feedback from providers following each licensing visit utilizing a “post card” type method. The information was to be used for quality assurance and to prompt educational efforts to improve the regulatory oversight process.
Last year WHCA leadership requested RCS once again start this type of feedback loop, suggesting that such a system be automated. As this type of provider survey has not yet been resurrected, WHCA has developed one in the interim.
For those members who have experienced a recent survey or inspection (annual, follow up or complaint visit) interested in sharing their thoughts and ideas on the survey process, and as that process directly affected the building’s operations, WHCA encourages reporting to us using our secure online tool here. You can complete this survey ANYTIME following an inspection, so be sure to bookmark the survey location on our website so you can return later.
The feedback received from you will be used to track and trend regional citation areas of focus as well as topics warranting educational development. For those individuals interested in sharing additional details, the facility’s Statement of Deficiencies report/2567 can be uploaded into the survey. WHCA staff will use specific examples (minus facility name/identifiers) when addressing issues with RCS in an effort to emphasize survey and communication improvement methods.
