RCS Hires New Deputy Director to Provide Oversight to Inspection & Survey Staff

RCS is very excited to announce that they have hired a new Deputy Director, Miriam Mina.  Miriam will be starting with RCS on June 7th and RCS looks forward to introducing her properly as soon as she gets settled.  Miriam will be working closely with their field units and will have primary responsibility for the oversite of field operations, including the inspection and investigation work.

Miriam D. Mina, RN, BSN, MPA, SMQT, CIC is an Infection Prevention supervisor with the Washington State Department of Health’s Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance team.  Miriam has been with the Washington State Department of Health team since March 2021 conducting Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) consults for healthcare facilities. Prior to working for the Department of Health, she worked as a neurology nurse at Swedish First Hill, in public health nursing at Public Health Seattle King County, as a Regulatory and Accreditation Specialist at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, as well as a long-term care surveyor with ALTSA/RCS, a Risk and Quality manager at Regional Long-term Acute Care Hospital, and an Infection Prevention program manager at St. Anne hospital.  She received her Master’s in Public Administration at Seattle University in 2009 with a focus on healthcare and worked for U.S. Senator Patty Murray on constituent issues on healthcare. Miriam has always been passionate about patient safety and considering the recent COVID-19 pandemic, she continues to be motivated by looking at how we can better assist facilities prepare for emerging pathogens.
