Grassroots Update – Support Nurse Delegation Legislation

Urge your legislators to support proposed nurse delegation legislation today: Take Action. This critical legislation, HB 2425/SB 6107, strengthens quality care and safety by modernizing the delegation of nursing tasks, allowing registered nurses to make delegation decisions based on the patient’s needs rather than the care setting.

This brings effective, timely, and accurate assistance to care services most needed in our state, including medication support. Nurse delegation, a practice already available in home and community settings including assisted living, has 30 years of history as an efficient model for easing workloads and allowing caregivers to perform at the top of their scope. By expanding nurse delegation to other care settings, nursing assistants and home care aides can take their skills with them and continue building a strong career trajectory one step at a time.

The legislation in question represents a continuation of a long-standing, successful model that ensures residents and patients continue receiving safe, person-centered care, and uplifts our long-term care workforce by ensuring stability and skills training across disciplines. Send a message today and uplift those who protect Washington’s seniors.
