Legislature Slated to Adjourn on Sunday

This week, the Washington Legislature has been working long days to finalize and adopt the 2025-2027 operating budget before adjourning the 105-day regular session on April 27. The focus has been on the revenue side of the equation. The four-year deficit of $16 billion necessitates this additional revenue or demands additional cuts. Even with the release of a budget, the work is not complete. Governor Bob Ferguson is not in alignment with budget leaders on revenue proposals and thus could wield a veto pen on the final budget proposal. Read more about the work in Olympia here. Look for Capitol Update early next week, where we will provide the details on the budget plan that passes the Legislature and that will be sent to the Governor for action.
