Self-Nomination to Collaborate with a Researcher – Open Through March 13
AHCA/NCAL invites you to self-nominate your organization – and/or a specific facility within your organization – to be matched with a researcher to co-design an intervention, evaluate an intervention you’ve put in place, or show them how skilled nursing facilities work.
The brief self-nomination form is here: www.surveymonkey.com/r/9MXFZ9D.
You are not committing to anything at this stage – this is simply to see if you are interested!
AHCA/NCAL has several opportunities to bring researchers to your site – you can self-nominate for one or more of the following:
- Host a researcher in-person as part of a “Day in Our Community”, the NEXT STEPs Experiential Learning Program to familiarize researchers with the day-to-day workflows of skilled nursing facilities.
- Work with a researcher to apply for competitive NIH funding* for a project, either:
- To design a non-pharmacological intervention for managing behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, including reducing the use of antipsychotic medications, which your organization could feasibly implement
- To design an intervention on another topic that reflects your priority
- Match with a researcher who is interested in evaluating an existing program at your organization
*Applications will be competitive and will be selected in Spring 2026 in part on the basis of the provider’s shared interest and commitment to working with a researcher in planning an intervention over a 12-month period.
Please indicate your interest here: www.surveymonkey.com/r/9MXFZ9D
Why is AHCA promoting collaborations with researchers? The more that the sector is involved in research, the more they can drive the research agenda to focus on issues that they think will best help residents, operations, and the regulatory environment. Please consider how your organization may want to get involved.
