Grassroots Update: Let Your Voice be Heard in the Legislature
Following the Governor’s budget proposal heard in January, the Legislature’s budget will be the next critical junction in the fight against potential cuts to Medicaid rebase dollars for skilled nursing and assisted living. We need a strong group of advocates prepared to voice opposition to any budget that continues the cuts proposed by the Governor.
WHCA is once again putting out a call to our members— we need voices for committee testimony on the Legislature’s budget proposals starting Monday, February 23.
Sign up to testify now. Bring your voice and time. We’ll provide coaching, resources, and support to guide you in this important effort.
Having a team ready to step up will ensure a strong turnout, just as we saw earlier this year. Hearing directly from those on the ground is critical. It cuts through the noise and exposes the real human impact of funding gaps.
While hearing details have not yet been finalized, WHCA expects fiscal committee schedules to remain consistent, meaning testimony will likely occur in the evenings during the week of February 23, from 4–6 p.m. We recognize this is a significant time commitment and deeply appreciate those willing to rise above and make it clear to lawmakers that these cuts are wrong for long-term care.
