New Urine PCR Consensus Statement Now Available
A new open-access consensus statement has been created by The Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed, formerly PALTC or AMDA) and is endorsed by the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN).
It recommends against the routine use of urine polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for the diagnosis of urinary tract infection due to a lack of objective evidence of benefit. Read more here: PALTmed’s Urine PCR Consensus Statement
