Grassroots Update: Federal Election to Watch

As state election races heat up ahead of November 3, so too do Congressional races across the country. Several contests could play a pivotal role in determining control of the House and Senate heading into the second half of President Trump’s final term.

In Washington’s third Congressional District state Senate Minority Leader John Braun is taking on incumbent candidate Marie Glusenkamp Perez for a critical seat that has drawn the attention of leadership from both parties, including Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.

The opponents could not be more different as they vie to represent the Southwestern corner of Washington. Perez has represented the district since 2022, often drawing criticism from her own party for working across the aisle and her inexperience. Braun, on the other hand, has experience as a state lawmaker but carries the President’s endorsement which may, in the midst of Trump’s record low polling, be more of a burden than a blessing.
