Grassroots Update: Federal Legislation to Watch

This June 8-9, the American Health Care Association will be holding their Congressional Briefing in Washington D.C. We are excited about this incredible opportunity to come together with our providers and advocate on behalf of bipartisan legislation that protects quality care. Two bills to watch as Congressional Briefing approaches:  

The Medicare Advantage Improvement Act addresses prior authorizations, prompt payment delays, payment clawbacks, and transparency gaps that impact your residents and operations. 

The Ensuring Seniors’ Access to Quality Care Act provides an avenue for nursing homes to resume suspended in-house CNA education programs, restoring a pathway to workforce development. 

These issues, and many others, will be top of mind when WHCA and its members meet with the state’s congressional delegation to advocate for strong Medicaid and Medicare funding, as well as improved transparency and access. Only providers can truly move the needle on these issues. Providers are uniquely positioned to move the needle on these issues. Hearing directly from those in the field remains essential to effective long-term care advocacy, even at the federal level, where policy can feel removed from care delivery at home.
