Medication Assistance Definition Changes in WAC 388-78A

Following the passage of House Bill 1720, DSHS is updating the definition of medication assistance to reflect an expansion on assistance with injectable medications.  The new language is as follows:
In Chapter 388-78A WAC, the phrase “Medication assistance which may include reminding or coaching the nonresident individual, opening the nonresident individual’s medication container, using an enabler, and handing prefilled insulin syringes to the nonresident individual” will be replaced with “Medication assistance which may include reminding or coaching the nonresident individual, opening the nonresident individual’s medication container, using an enabler, with setting up diabetic devices for self-administration or handing injectable medications to an individual for self-administration.”
