Grassroots Update: Legislative Facility Tours Presentation
Join us on September 15 from 3:00-4:00 pm at the WHCA + IHCA Fall Conference for an education session dedicated to legislative facility tours. In collaboration with IHCA’s CEO, Robert Vande Merwe, WHCA’s Aidan Swayne will outline the planning, execution, and impact of a successful facility tour at your building. Whether you host a state legislator, local dignitary, or member of a state agency, facility tours are an essential advocacy tool.
This comprehensive grassroots strategy allows your building, staff, and leadership to tell a story of care that builds a human connection. Lawmakers come from diverse backgrounds such as farming, business, technology, or law enforcement, and rely on practical education to fill gaps in their knowledge as lawmakers. An on-the-ground view of long-term care services in assisted living and skilled nursing can bridge this gap. Facilities and both sides of care within are the centers of your work as long-term care providers- they deserve to be understood as such.
When legislators see this work in action, when they meet older adults reliant on services, decisions are made with a new, powerful context in mind. Join us to understand these critical dynamics and see how you can be a part of protecting the future of long-term care in your state.
