Department Of Health to Move HCA Testing to Training Sites

After years of long credentialing delays and limited testing sites, the Department of Health (DOH) will begin offering training programs the option to perform the certification exams.  By allowing training programs to conduct exams onsite, DOH aims to reduce barriers and make testing more accessible and convenient.

This process has been piloted with Brookdale Senior Living for 10 months with huge success; HCA students have reported decreased test anxiety and improved test results when taking the exam with co-workers and fellow students.

DOH plans to phase in various eligible training programs; if your facility is approved to teach the HCA training and would like to test your own students, please complete the DOH survey here.  Note, DOH is interested in phasing in rural training partners first.
