Grassroots Update: Midterm Elections
Yesterday the General Mid-term Elections took place across America. Millions of voters took to the polls into the late evening to elect officials, support or oppose initiatives, and cast their voice on a myriad of local particulars. Currently, the Secretary of State’s office is certifying results and beginning to post preliminary counts here on their Website: Election Results and Voters’ Pamphlets | WA Secretary of State.
In Washington’s third Congressional district, Marie Glusenkamp Perez beat out former state Senator John Braun, helping Democrats in their monumental recapture of the House of Representatives. A number of local legislative races are underway that would welcome new faces to Olympia in key districts including the 6th (Spokane), 3rd (Spokane), 26th (Gig Harbor), 42nd (Whatcom County), and 37th (South Seattle) amongst others. Statewide, Washingtonians will also be voting on initiatives, including the much-debated Millionaires’ Tax (I-645), and several state Supreme Court judges. Both areas have become the focus of unprecedented political spending and media coverage.
As election results unfold, WHCA is committed to staying ahead of the changing political landscape and updating you on the latest in Olympia and beyond. If you have questions about your district, reach out to Aidan Swayne today.
