Grassroots Update: Rejecting the Governor’s Budget One Voice at a Time

Tune in today: Watch your colleagues testify before the House Appropriations Committee, where they will call on lawmakers to protect seniors and uplift quality long-term care by rejecting the Governor’s budget proposal. Proceedings begin at 4pm PDT.

This evening, as they did yesterday and Monday, providers, caregivers, and advocates are raising the real-world impacts of the Governor’s proposed cuts to Medicaid funding for assisted living and skilled nursing. Their testimony underscores a shared message: these reductions threaten care quality, workforce stability, and access for Washington’s most vulnerable residents.

Speakers are urging legislators to reaffirm their commitment to long-term care by maintaining investments that reflect current costs and the growing needs of an aging population which relies on essential infrastructure and access to the right care in the right setting. Communities and family members are counting on these services to be equitable and free of barriers to access.

A special thank you to our teams at Cascadia Healthcare, Ensign Services, Avamere, Village at The Harbor, Hearth and Truss, Evergreen, Noble, Caldera, and Caring Places for signing up to participate. Thank you all for taking the time to do legislative advocacy training with WHCA. Contact Aidan Swayne to book a coaching session today.
