Overview:

Established by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), in partnership with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health in Nursing Facilities (COE-NF) offers certified Medicare and Medicaid nursing facility staff a centralized resource hub with easy access to trainings, technical assistance and additional resources, at no cost. This presentation will address the services available and ways to connect with the COE-NF as well as provide time for audience questions and answers.

Speakers:

David Rodriguez, Behavioral Health Specialist / Improvement Advisor, Comagine Health
The Center of Excellence for BH in Nursing Facilities (COE-NF)

Mr. Rodriguez currently resides in Vancouver, Washington where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in human services at Clark College in 2020 and his Associate of Science degree in applied behavior analysis. He has worked in a variety of roles within the behavioral health field, including direct clinical work with youth and families in a Behavioral Health (BH) wraparound program. He has also worked as a (BH) project coordinator striving to improve BH programs for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in Washington State. Recently, he served as the Southwest Washington Behavioral Health Ombudsman working with providers in his region to improve behavioral health services. In his current role, he serves Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington as the Regional Behavioral Health Specialist for the COE-NF.

Adrienne Butterwick, Manager, Patient Safety, Comagine Health
The Center of Excellence for BH in Nursing Facilities

Ms. Butterwick is a Patient Safety Manager at Comagine Health. She is currently leading quality improvement efforts and programs directed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other federal agencies to improve quality of care for residents living in post-acute and long-term care settings. Her work has a special emphasis on substance use disorders with opioid stewardship and behavioral health initiatives. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in behavioral science and health at the University of Utah in 2007 and her master’s in public health at Westminster College in 2014. Ms. Butterwick is also recognized as a Certified Healthcare Education Specialist (CHES).
