This day and a half course will focus on the new changes to the RAI Manual and MDS assessments effective October 1, 2019. The training will cover all of the “data elements” that must be coded according to the RAI Manual in order to compute both a RUG-IV score for OBRA assessments and the PDPM score for Medicare PPS assessments.
We will cover the MDS assessment from start to finish: including what the MDS is, what the data is used for, how to assure accuracy, who must have an assessment completed, the resources needed, what forms are used and when, entry and discharge tracking and assessments, interviewing guidelines, a section-by-section of item coding, significant change assessments, the CAA process, and error correction.
One of the goals of the State’s training is to clarify that PDPM is a reimbursement model that uses information from data elements of the MDS.
This class will emphasize the importance of accurate ICD 10 coding and will encourage all participants to take training on MDS coding of ICD-10 codes.
