What are the most often cited regulations in Washington’s assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, and why? State and federal regulations can be complex and difficult to understand, and knowing what the most important areas of focus need to be among hundreds of regulatory requirements can be a daunting task. Each year, WHCA hosts these webinars to review the most common citations in both assisted living communities and skilled nursing facilities, so you can prepare for your next survey or inspection with confidence and be prepared for whatever comes your way.

January 15: The Assisted Living session will review the top WAC sections the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) licensors have cited over the past year. We’ll cover the top ten citations and identify reasons the WAC is an issue for many assisted living providers. Perhaps most importantly, ideas will be shared on the best ways to address these citations and ideas on how to prevent them from recurring. Presented by Vicki McNealley

January 22: Residential Care Services (RCS) has the authority to cite the federal and state requirements for Skilled Nursing Facilities, and in this session we will review the top ten cited regulations for 2025. From reporting to NHSN to prevention of accidents and incidents, find out the trends over the last year and what requirements continue to challenge facilities. This webinar will clarify the regulations that were most frequently cited by surveyors over the last year and discuss the common pitfalls and challenges to facility compliance. Presented by Elena Madrid
