This virtual forum, hosted by the Aging and Long-Term Care Support Administration’s Division of Residential Care Services (ALTSA/RCS), offers a unique opportunity to engage with Field Managers and Regional Administrators on topics critical to provider interests. This quarter’s microlearning will be about Emergency Preparedness along with the Fall and Winter Infection Control Guidance.

Learning Objectives

After participating in the Fall 2025 forum, attendees should be able to learn and understand:

  • RCS staff updates, changes
  • Emergency Preparedness
    • Know the status of new rules that took effect on September 6, 2025. The rule change implements Substitute House Bill 1218 (2021).
    • Recognize applicability of the new rules relative to specific facility operations and communications with staff, residents.
    • Be aware of fall and winter seasonal emergency preparedness; plan ahead, staying informed and be safe.
    • Be aware how to contact Residential Care Services Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.
  • Fall and Winter Infection Control Guidance
    • Know the DOH WA state and CDC latest guidance on infection control practices for facilities and homes.
    • Describe what Residential Care Services infection, prevention, and control resources are available to assist providers.
    • Be aware of applicable infection control program laws and rules.
    • Find Residential Care Services Infection, Prevention, and Control website.
    • Be aware how to contact Residential Care Services Infection Control Quality Improvement Program Manager.
  • Success stories from the field
  • Citation trends over the past quarter
  • Review of Dear Provider letters over the past quarter

Additional outcomes, providers will gain insight into key regulatory updates, discuss important policy changes, and explore quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing care in long-term care settings. This collaborative event emphasizes the importance of strengthening communication and fostering partnerships that support quality care for our most vulnerable clients and residents.
