The WHCA/WCAL Residential Care Program
(Washington Center for Assisted Living) is designed to provide
information, advocacy, education, member services and leadership
opportunities specific to the unique needs of residential care providers
in Washington state.
On-going education is a key element of
residential care facility operation. The Washington Center for Assisted
Living sponsors educational/ conference events geared directly for
boarding home/assisted living providers. In addition, specific
informational needs of residential care providers are addressed in the
bi-monthly newsletter, the Front Porch, and in the Residential Care
section of WHCA's monthly publication, The Intercom, and through
Residential Care Updates as issues arise.
Residential Care has emerged as one of
the fastest growing facets of the long term care industry. As this arena
has increased in size, so too have pressures for increased regulation.
To meet the increasing need for advocacy, WCAL works via the WHCA
Residential Care Conference to guarantee that regulatory issues are
addressed in the manner most appropriate to ensure providers are able to
continue to deliver the highest quality care to residents. WHCA and WCAL
staff consistently monitors all regulatory activity, actual or
potential, affecting residential care providers.
Involvement in the Washington Health
Care Association / Washington Center for Assisted Living is the best way
to safeguard your constructive influence over policy decisions affecting
the present and future of long term care in this state. WHCA provides a
full-time staff specialist dedicated to the distinct program needs of
providers operating licensed boarding homes, assisted living facilities,
and adult family homes.
