Convention Committee is the committee that plans each annual
convention. This committee meets as needed beginning in June or July
previous to the annual convention held in May. Members work with WHCA
staff to develop the education tracks, entertainment and activities as
well as gathering sponsorship commitments for the various events held at
convention. The committee is currently co-chaired by Roger Moore,
Administrator at Leon Sullivan Healthcare in Seattle and John Tipton of
McKesson and staffed by Brenda Orffer.
Education Committee is the committee that works to establish
educational goals for the association and meets quarterly. This
committee provides feedback as to what educational needs exist so that
we can offer quality events that meet the educational needs of our
members. The committee is currently chaired by Michelle Roe,
Administrator at Marysville Care Center and staffed by Vicki Anensen-McNealley and Brenda Orffer.
Quality Improvement Committee meets on an as-needed basis and
focuses on ways that we can improve the quality of care in long-term
care. The committee sometimes develops legislative ideas and tracks
bills impacting the way care is administered. The committee also works
on developing training and programs specifically for nurses in long-term
care. The committee is currently chaired by Kelly Callahan,
Administrator at Mission Healthcare at Bellevue and is staffed by Vicki Anensen-McNealley.
Group Purchasing Committee meets on an as-needed basis and
focuses on developing the Group Purchasing Contract for the association.
This committee is currently co-chaired by Randall Hyatt, WHCA President,
of Hygate Properties and Rick Dillon, WHCA Vice President, of Avamere
and staffed by Gary Weeks and Diana Hitchings.
Legal Action Committee meets on an as-needed basis and focuses on
legal action strategies for the association as it represents long-term
care. The committee is currently chaired by Bill Ulrich of Consolidated
Billing Services, Inc. and is staffed by Gary Weeks and Lauri St.
Ours.
WHCA-PAC meets on an as-needed basis and focuses on legislative
and political activities for the association. The WHCA-PAC Board is made
up of representatives from each chapter; however, guests
are welcome to attend meetings and be part of the discussion. Voting is
limited to members of the WHCA-PAC Board. The WHCA-PAC is chaired by
Jerry Tretwold, Administrator of Harmony House Health Care Center and is
staffed by Juanita Taurman.
Skilled Nursing Reimbursement Committee meets at least quarterly
and focuses on cost reimbursement for skilled nursing facilities in
Washington. The committee works together to promote legislation and
policy change for better funding in long-term care. The committee is
currently chaired by Norm Hyatt of Hyatt Corporation and is staffed by
Gary Weeks and Lauri St. Ours.
Assisted Living Reimbursement Committee meets at least quarterly
and focuses on cost reimbursement for assisted living facilities in
Washington. The committee works together to promote legislation and
policy change for better funding in long-term care. The committee is
currently chaired by Laurie Wince of Woodmark Retirement Corporation and
is staffed by Lauri St. Ours.
Governmental Affairs Committee meets on an as-needed basis and
work on projects relating to legislative action and outcomes affecting
long term care. The committee is currently chaired by Rick Dillon, WHCA
Vice President, of Avamere and is staffed by Gary Weeks.
Group Retro Committee meets monthly and establishes goals and
objectives for WHCA’s Group Retrospective Rating Program as well as
overseeing the program activities and budget. Members of the committee
are subject to the committee’s bylaws with regard to voting privileges
and work together to enhance workplace safety in long term care. The
committee is currently chaired by Carmen Steiner, Administrator at
Bessie Burton Sullivan, and is staffed by Diana Hitchings. |
