Course Overview
Safety Fair Exhibits
Join us to view the newest and most effective safety tools available to
long term care facilities. In the interest of creating safe work
environments, safe resident environments and safe conditions, several
suppliers are showcasing what they have to offer to make your quest for
safety successful! During the luncheon, vendors will make short
presentations about specific products to enhance safety in your
facility!
Body Mechanics
Deborah Read, MOTR/L aka ErgoGirl!
Ms. Read will present information on the proper technique of body
mechanics in long term care. From lifting, bending, turning,
transferring to sitting, standing and walking, she will address the
safety behind proper body mechanics to help providers avoid injuries to
themselves and the residents they care for.
Labor & Industries Update
Washington Department of L&I
The Washington Department of Labor and Industries will be bringing a
variety of materials and information on safety in the workplace, safety
for care givers and safety for residents. They will address current
trends in injuries and claims and share ideas and information on how to
avoid the top injuries that occur.
Poison Control and Therapeutic Errors in LTC
Autumn Allen, Katie Von Derau; WA Poison Control Center
Autumn Allen, Communication and Partnerships Manager for the Washington
State Poison Control Center will share information and news regarding
the services and projects available to seniors and senior care providers
in Washington. Ms. Derau, a certified poison expert and nurse, will
present information on therapeutic and pharmaceutical errors in long
term care and how to prevent them or how to treat them if they occur.
Who Should Attend?
Every individual involved with promoting
safety within a facility should be at this event. We ALL work together
